Julie Van-Lare, RN, MSN

Julie Van-LareJulie Van-Lare, RN, MSN Born in Nigeria, raised partly in Nigeria and in the United States, Julie Van-Lare is a rare product of the complex web of Nigerian-American cross cultures which she has mastered and navigates with the ease of a hot knife cutting through butter. Ms Van-Lare™s resume drips with unique experience in understanding and connecting with human services and community relations. She was a social worker, with one of the most cosmopolitan cities containing one of the most diverse demography with challenging multicultural, multi-ethnic social problems in the world: the City of New York.

For almost a decade, Ms. Van Lare provided New Yorkers including families, and vulnerable citizens and resident populations with the much needed psychosocial support to cope with chronic health and welfare issues. In 1996, urged by a strong desire to serve in even more sophisticated area of the healthcare industry, the ever versatile Ms. Van Lare obtained RN license. Her innate management and communication skills were quickly noticed.

As such, she found her self in several health care teams, working in diverse human services jobs sometimes involving direct contact with victims of exploitation or mistreatment. A health professional to the core with a knack for dealing with the product of any strata of the society, Ms. Van Lare comfortably worked as a prison nurse at the notorious Riker's Island Correctional Facility.

To earn first hand experience with home bound patients with their peculiar medical and psychological needs, she undertook assignments with the Visiting Nurse Services of NY, Metropolitan Jewish Home Care agency. Impressed with her immense organizational and managerial talents, she was appointed a Head Nurse at the famous and prestigious Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York where she was supervises several health care professionals. Ms. Van-Lare is the Vice-president of the Nigerian Nurses Association of USA a non-for profit professional association, involved with health promotion, advocacy, information referral, and experienced care.

She is also the General Manager of JVL Consultancy Inc., a corporation that provides consultancy services in event planning, organizes workshops and seminar on healthcare and health management issues. Married with children, her personal interests include creating awareness about AIDS and promoting education for the prevention of AIDS via group meetings and community activities.
